IL RAP DEL RICORDO DI TEMPE (1)

Discorso tenuto da Bob Dylan a Toronto, il 20 Aprile 1980

Voglio davvero raccontarvi una storia.
Circa quattro mesi fa stavamo suonando da qualche parte, in un college
o in un campus. Non ricordo esattamente dove, credo fosse in Arizona.
Ad ogni modo, io leggo un sacco la Bibbia; succede spesso che io lo faccia.
La Bibbia dice delle cose che non ho realmente imparato se non poco tempo fa,
ed in realtà ho menzionato queste cose in quel luogo perchè lì c'erano persone che studiavano materie altamente culturali,
che predicavano la loro filosofia.
Così la gente può studiare tutti i differenti tipi di filosofia, quella di Platone e, oh, di chi altro? Chi?
Beh, decisamente mi ricordo Nietzsche e filosofi del genere.
Ad ogni modo, la Bibbia parla di un avvenimento specifico nel Libro dell'Apocalisse
che si abbina perfettamente a quello che sta succedendo ai giorni nostri, e dice che presto ci sarà una guerra -
Non saprei dire esattamente quando, ma avverrà presto comunque - e dice che in quell'epoca
ci sarà un paese nelle zone più estreme del Nord, un paese che ha come simbolo l'orso.
E nella Bibbia viene chiamato R-O-S-H.
Tutto questo è stato scritto un bel po' di anni fa.
Perciò non può essere abbinato ad un qualche paese che conosco.
Ma voi ne conoscete qualcuno al quale si può abbinare? Forse voi lo conoscete. Non so.
Poi viene menzionata un'altra nazione chiamata... non mi ricordo il nome adesso,
ma si trova nella parte più ad Est del mondo e possiede un esercito
di duecento milioni di soldati.
Ora, esiste solo una nazione che può corrispondere a questa descrizione.
Comunque, io stavo raccontando questa storia a quella gente.
Non avrei dovuto raccontargliela.
Mi sono lasciato trascinare dal discorso.
Ho menzionato loro il fatto e poi ho osservato.
E ho detto che la Russia sferrerà un attacco nel Medio Oriente.
Così è scritto nella Bibbia.
Ho letto ogni genere di libri per tutta la mia vita:
riviste, libri, qualsiasi cosa avessi a portata di mano,
e non ho mai trovato alcuna verità in nessuno di essi, se volete sapere la verità.
Ma ho detto che questa nazione stava per sferrare il suo attacco.
E tutte quelle persone - dovevano essercene 50.000... forse non erano 50.000 -
5.000 forse... non so, forse 3.000 - tutte quante si sono messe a fischiare.
Fischiavano tutti; tutto l'intero auditorio.
Ho detto che la Russia avrebbe sferrato un attacco nel Medio Oriente.
Ed è stato tutto un ooohhh! Non volevano sentir parlare di questa cosa. Non ci credevano.
Ed un mese dopo la Russia ha mandato le sue truppe in... mi sembra Afghanistan.
E l'intera situazione è cambiata, sapete.
Non vi sto dicendo questo per dimostrare che loro avevano torto ed io avevo ragione,
o cose del genere.
Queste cose che sono scritte nella Bibbia... io ci presterei molta
attenzione... ci sono scritte un sacco di profezie su come sarà l'Anti-Cristo.
Ne avete già avuto un'anticipazione con Adolf Hitler.
Beh, un'anticipazione?
Ad ogni modo, l'Anti-Cristo sarà un po' differente. Ma egli
porterà la paura nel mondo.
Ma alla fine sarà sconfitto.
Ma voi dovete temere queste cose.
Avete bisogno di qualcosa di forte a cui aggrapparvi.
Si è manifestato nella carne!
Testimoniato nello Spirito!
Ricevuto dagli angeli!
Predicato in tutto il mondo!

THE TEMPE RECOLLECTION RAP

Actually I wanna tell you a story.
We were playin' about four months ago some place that was a college
or a campus. I forget exactly where, Arizona I think it was.
Anyway, I read the Bible a lot; it just happens I do.
It says things in the Bible that I didn't really learn until recently,
And I really mentioned these because there are higher learnin people there,
preaching their philosophy.
So people can study all the different philosophies, of Plato and, oh, who else? Who?
Well, I definitely recall reading Nietzsche and those people like that.
Anyways, in the Bible it tells a specific thing in the Book of Revelations
that just apply to these times, and it says that certain wars that soon -
I can't say exactly when, but soon anyway - so that at that time it
mentions a country to the furthermost north, and it has it's symbol the bear.
And it's also spelt R-O-S-H in the Bible.
This was written quite a few years ago.
So it can't but be applied to one country that I know.
But do you know another it can be applied to? Maybe you do. I don't know.
Then there's another country called ... can't remember what the name of it is,
but it's in the eastern part of the world and it's got an army of two
hundred million foot soldiers.
Now that's only one country that that can actually be.
So anyway, I was telling this story to these people.
I shouldn't have been telling it to them.
I just got carried away.
I mentioned it to them and then I watched.
And Russia was going to come down and attack in the Middle East.
It says this in the Bible.
And I had been reading all kind of books my whole life:
magazines, books, whatever I could lay my hand on anyway,
and I never found any truth in any of it, if you wanna know the truth.
But I said this country is gonna come down and attack.
And all these people - there must've been 50,000 ... maybe it wasn't 50,000 -
5,000 maybe ... I don't know, maybe three - 3,000 - they all booed.
Everybody just booed; and it was the whole auditorium of people.
I said, Russia's gonna come down and attack in the Middle East.
And it was ooohhh! They couldn't hear that. They didn't believe it.
And a month later, Russia moved her troops into, I think, Afghanistan.
And the whole situation changed, you know.
I'm not saying this to tell you they were wrong and I was right,
or anything like that.
These things that it mentions in the Bible I'm gonna pay mighty close
attention to ...been a lot of previews of what Anti-Christ could be like.
You had a preview; you got Adolf Hitler.
Well, a preview?
Anyway, the Anti-Christ is gonna be a little different from that. But then he's
gonna bring panic to the world.
But he will eventually be defeated too.
But you're still gonna have to be aware of these things.
You need something strong to hang on to.
It was manifested in the flesh!
Testified in the Spirit!
Received by angels!
Preached out in the world!!
